KBShimmer Birthstone Collection

*Press Samples*

Hi everyone! Today I have KBShimmer's Birthstone Collection on the blog. This set of 12 sparkling jellies represent the monthly birthstones. This such a gorgeous, reflective finish from KBShimmer and it's one that must be seen in real life to fully appreciate. The full Birthstone Collection will be launching on January 1st in the KBShimmer shop.

First I want to talk about the formula because it's pretty much the same across the board. They spread smoothly and easily and build up to opacity in 2 coats. The lighter ones are less pigmented, but the density of the flakes causes them to still build up nicely in 2 coats. I love that the formula isn't runny at all so it's easy to polish without getting on your skin/cuticles, which is definitely not what you want with the flakes and glitter because they will stick to your skin. The flakes/glitter lay flat on the nail so the finish is smooth and I just sealed them all with 1 coat of topcoat (I used KBShimmer Clearly On Top). The more pigmented ones aren't quite as sparkly/reflective as the lighter ones but they still pack a punch. All in all...I'm in love with this finish!

Garnet is a deep burgundy/wine jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats with topcoat. Garnet is January's birthstone. This is rich, vampy shade that perfect for winter!

Amethyst is a deep purple jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats with topcoat. Amethyst is February's birthstone. This one is perfect for all of your purple lovers out there (I know there aren't many of you, but maybe a few :D).

Aquamarine is a pale aqua jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats with topcoat. Aquamarine is March's birthstone. This one may look silver at first glance, but the aqua hue is very subtle and more apparent in real life.

Diamond has a clear base packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats with topcoat. Diamond is April's birthstone. This one is the sparkliest and most reflective of them all since the base is not tinted.

Emerald is a rich emerald green jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats with topcoat. Emerald is May's birthstone. I adore this greeeen so much!

Black Pearl is a black jelly packed with metallic silver flakes, silver microglitter, and a touch of green shimmer. I used 2 coats here with topcoat. June's birthstone is a pearl, but KBShimmer did a bit of a twist and used a Black Pearl for the inspiration for this polish. You can see the slight greenish flashes when it catches the light which help give it that pearly look.

Ruby is a cherry red jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. This is 2 coats plus topcoat. Ruby is July's birthstone. This is one insane, reflective red! It is definitely one of my favorites!

Peridot is a pale chartreuse jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. I used 2 coats here with topcoat. It actually covers well in 2 coats, but I did have a little thin spot on my middle nail in these swatches that I didn't notice until I was editing the photos. To be honest, I couldn't really see it in real life because it is so shiny! Peridot is August's birthstone, and it's one of my favorite stones! So vibrant and pretty!

Sapphire is a deep blue jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. I used 2 coats plus topcoat here. Sapphire is September's birthstone. This one looks very galaxy-esque on the nail...it makes me not even care about the Essie Starry Starry Night re-release going on right now. This is a million times better!

Pink Tourmaline is a rosy pink jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. I used 2 coats here along with topcoat. Pink Tourmaline is one of October's birthstones along with the Opal. This was one I really didn't think too much of in the bottle, but it ended up being one of my favorites once I got it on the nail. Such a gorgeous shade!

Citrine is a bright golden yellow jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. I used 2 coats here along with topcoat. Citrine is one of November's birthstones along with Topaz. I was instantly drawn to this polish because it is such a unique shade and I absolutely adored it once I got it on. I know it's one of those semi-weird colors that not everyone will love, but I think it's fab!

Blue Topaz is a medium blue jelly packed with metallic silver flakes and silver microglitter. I used 2 coats here with topcoat. Blue Topaz is December's birthstone. This is more of a true blue shade that Aquamarine and the base is more pigmented. It's a lovely sparkling blue!
